_underscore is a newly formed artist-run space and screening room in Milwaukee, WI, developed and programmed by Grace Mitchell and Michael Lagerman. Following Milwaukee’s historically DIY approach to the arts, _underscore resourcefully curates and organizes time-based, installation, performance and visual work from emerging and established queer artists working in our community and elsewhere. As an energetic emerging space, we promote risk taking and trying new things that may lead to developmental discoveries for the artist and attendees. We embrace and harness the raw energy of these socially driven events to add depth to the idea of spending time together. Underscore’s mission is to form tight knit connections locally, as well as regional and global bonds with artists and other grassroots collectives.
